Mall Rats

This is a composites of mall rats, of people I took pictures of walking around headless and busy getting from one place to the other, from one end of the mall to the other end and back again. Boy, my sympathies goes out to these boyfriends and husbands that had to wait for their girls for hours and hours on end just to wind up with bags full of junks....... Well, that includes me......

Anatomical Disaster I

I have always been fascinated by the medical drawings and historical bio-medical illustrations or diagrams since I was little. They seemed to defy who we are, as we don't really see ourselves as such, all cut up and laying motionless on a operating table. Yet as I come across more and more of these intricate and detailed drawings, whether it be reflexological chart, acupuncture point diagrams, or a heart valve dissection drawing, I find them aesthetically pleasing to view.... Hard Engine II

OK, this is the continuation from last night's post and inspiration. Yes, what else but the strewn pipes, tubes, mechanical things that surround us, as we are all too easily choked up by the modern technological inventions, gadgets, electronic devices, things, matters everywhere that we can't really seem to get away from. It would be nice if I have an extra room in my house totally devoid of things, just a plain white painted wall room for a quiet meditation. Unfortunately I don't, I am completely surrounded by years of accumulated memos, action figures, boxes, keep sakes, letters, old printer, scanner, devices that are now just gathering thick layer of dusts. Somehow by creating art, I can get away from this banal reality of cluttering all around me..... Well, OK, let's see what tomorrow will bring us. Good night readers.......

Hard Engine I

Anybody who lived through the 80's should have some sort of remembrance of one particular publication called the Omni Magazine. It was a fairly popular sci-fi/scientific/futuristic type of magazine that featured many talented artists of the time. I used to spent hours in the library reading and get inspired by the artworks that it featured. One striking artist that stuck in my mind all throughout the decades was that of Bob Venosa. His organic art was always ethereal, glassy with constant glowing translucent lights and emanating shapes of divine-like forms. I especially loved his particular piece called "Jutta II". So while trying to come up with an image this evening, I thought of Venosa's art and did a similar symmetrical one in my element of style. As you can see my love of compositional symmetry plus mechanical gadgets in combination of a ethereal feminine face is well exemplified here.

My Icelandic Trip

Several years ago I flew with my wife to Scandinavia for our annual vacation, and on the way we stopped over the Iceland. We only stopped over Reykjavik for a half day, so my wife suggested us to visit their famous geo-thermo powered spring. Man, it was a wonderful & relaxing experience bathing in that warm pot of lake amidst their drastic cooling temperature. In this image you will see my wife's monstrous face applied with the white facial cream they have provided at the spring. There is also the landmark church Hallgrimskirkja. You can also see some icelandic youths at the bottom where I took a candid photo of them. As we walked in those hard-to-pronounce streets and avenues, we came across an empty park with bunch of sculptures and statues, as some shown in the picture here. Unfortunately now Iceland is in a deep kind of financial crisis, and all that debt just seemed to cast a gloomy overhead on this beautiful island. I hope to return there someday again in the future, and hopefully by then their financial and economic situation will be much more improved......

The Melting Cathedral

Just heard it over the radio that churches are in crisis. This image is perhaps my private interpretation of the current state of the age old religious structure being in the state of continual disintegration. Everywhere we see and hear how churches are running out of clergymen, child sex scandals popping out every other days and the infiltration of every insidious activities are plaguing this patriarch structure into a modern oblivion. Perhaps it is, we will see…….

With dinosaur fossils and seeming pieces of debris falling around, in a overt sense symbolizes the dying of the Institution itself.

Transfigural Pause

Welcome dear wondering eyeballs! This is the beginning of my committed one year nightly art therapy, and each week (hopefully), I will be able to therapy myself into making couple of these ink greased art piece for the uploading and sharing. In this piece - Transfigural Pause, I have used a main foreground figure as a reference of traveling through and frozen in a slice of time, changing from one locality to multiple localities while other background events are going on all at the same space and time either physically or trans-dimensionally......
